Allen Blakemore launched Houston-based political and fundraising consulting firm Blakemore & Associates in 1988. Together with his wife Elizabeth, the firm now provides a wide range of political services including strategy, tactical implementation, and fundraising, as well as government relations consulting and lobbying. Their clients include federal, state, county, and city candidates, established civic associations, political action committees, and some of the largest and most respected Texas corporations.

Prior to founding Blakemore & Associates, Allen served U.S. Senators John Tower and Phil Gramm. In 1985, he was selected as a fellow at the National Republican Congressional Committee’s Republican Campaign Academy.

In 2005, Allen expanded his operation by opening Blakemore Public Affairs in Austin, Texas. Allen’s experience in legislative strategy, message development, and driving public opinion allows his team to provide their clients with a complete turnkey solution for every facet of their public affairs needs. Blakemore Public Affairs operates offices around the state and allows them to stay attuned to the nuances in each major market in Texas.

Allen is consistently ranked among the top political consultants in Texas. In 2021 and 2019, Allen was ranked as the #1 political consultant in Texas by Capitol Inside. In 2015, he was named one of the “Ten Most Powerful Lobbyists” by Capitol Inside Lobby Power Rankings. He has also been recognized as “Most Valuable Player” in a primary runoff and part of the “All-Star Team” for the general election.

Over the past three decades, Allen’s general consulting clients have won 477 of 559 campaigns.

Allen is a frequently quoted source in the state and national media. He has earned two “Pollie Awards” from the American Association of Political Consultants, and recognition by the Newspaper Association of America as creator of one of “50 of the Best Political Newspaper Ads.” Allen was listed as one of the top 50 most influential Republican figures in Texas politics and government by Campaigns and Elections magazine.

A strong supporter of law enforcement, Allen served on the board of the Texas Department of Public Safety Foundation, which provides support to public safety personnel and their families in time of need. He is also past president of the Sentinel Club, an organization that raises money to benefit West University Place public safety officers. Allen is active in his community and is a Life-Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and currently serves on the World Championship Bar-B-Que Contest Committee. He previously served as city-wide chairman of the Neighborhood Watch Program and on the Executive Committee for Young Life—Southwest Houston. He is certified by the National Rifle Association as Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun Instructor.

A third generation Texan, Allen graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in International Trade. He and Elizabeth have two daughters and are members of First Presbyterian Church. They live in Houston.
